There are moments in life when everything in you wants to speak.
To defend yourself.
To explain your side.
To correct what was said.
To make things right.
But what happens when God calls you to be silent?
Episode 3 of The Beautiful Bloody Road takes us to Matthew 27:12–14, where Jesus stands accused, misunderstood, and condemned… yet chooses not to respond.
Because sometimes silence isn’t weakness.
Sometimes silence is strategy.
The Bible says:
“When He was accused… He gave no answer.”
No defense.
No explanation.
No argument.
And this wasn’t because Jesus had nothing to say.
It was because He chose not to say it.
There is a difference between being silent because you’re powerless…
and being silent because you’re purposeful.
Jesus had the authority to speak.
He had the power to stop it.
He had the truth on His side.
But He remained silent.
Why?
Because not every battle is meant to be fought with words.
Jesus was innocent.
Yet He stood in front of people who lied about Him.
Twisted the truth.
Misrepresented His character.
And still… He didn’t respond.
That challenges us.
Because our natural instinct is to defend ourselves when we’re misunderstood.
We want to clear our name.
We want people to know the truth.
We want to correct the narrative.
But Jesus shows us something deeper:
Not every accusation deserves your attention.
Some battles are distractions sent to pull you off assignment.
And sometimes the greatest strength is knowing when to say nothing at all.
One of the hardest truths to accept is this:
Your calling is bigger than your reputation.
Jesus could have defended His reputation.
He could have corrected every lie.
But if He had done that, He would have delayed His purpose.
He wasn’t focused on what people thought.
He was focused on what God said.
And that’s where many people get stuck.
We spend too much time trying to protect our image…
and not enough time fulfilling our assignment.
But when you understand your purpose, you won’t feel the need to respond to every voice.
Because your destiny is not determined by public opinion.
To the outside world, silence can look like defeat.
It can look like loss.
It can look like surrender.
But in the Kingdom, silence is often a sign of strength.
Jesus wasn’t losing.
He was positioning.
He understood that what was happening in that moment was part of a bigger plan.
And sometimes God will tell you to stay silent—not because you’re wrong, but because He’s working.
Working behind the scenes.
Working in hearts.
Working in situations you can’t control.
Your silence is not the absence of power.
It’s the presence of trust.
There are moments when God will say:
“Be still… and let Me handle this.”
Because when you try to fight every battle, you step into a role that belongs to God.
Jesus didn’t defend Himself—because He trusted the Father.
And that same principle applies to us.
You don’t have to respond to every lie.
You don’t have to correct every person.
You don’t have to prove yourself to people who have already made up their mind.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is step back and let God be your defender.
Because what God establishes… no accusation can destroy.
Silence is not easy.
It takes discipline.
It takes maturity.
It takes trust.
Because everything in you wants to speak.
But silence requires surrender.
Just like in the garden.
Just like in betrayal.
This is another step on the road.
A step where you trust God enough to not say a word.
Because you know He’s already working.
What looked like silence…
was actually movement.
Every accusation…
Every false statement…
Every moment of silence…
Was pushing Jesus closer to the cross.
And the cross was pushing humanity closer to salvation.
That means His silence had purpose.
And so does yours.
God is not ignoring you.
God is positioning you.
The Beautiful Bloody Road is not just marked by surrender and betrayal.
It is also marked by silence.
And sometimes the greatest faith you can show…
Is trusting God enough to say nothing.
Because when you stay silent in the right moment…
God speaks on your behalf.
Where in your life is God asking you to be silent instead of speaking?
What if your silence is the very thing God is using to move you forward?
